Springville Elementary School

Technology Contact/Computer Lab Teacher

About Me:

I have been in the Springville Elementary Computer lab since the 2002-2003 school year. It has been the greatest job in the world! Technology is forever changing, and it’s a challenge to try to keep up with it. Every year brings new ideas to try in the lab, which keeps student interest up. I am continually amazed at the new, improved ways of doing things.

I’ve not always been in the computer lab. I taught grades K-3 in the regular classroom in Georgia and Alabama. I graduated from Auburn University (B.S. in Early Childhood Education) in 1979 and Georgia Southwestern University (M.S. in Early Childhood Education) in 1984. I began teaching in 1980 in Georgia and moved to Alabama in the fall of 1986.

On the other pages, you will find links to things going on in my lab as well as in the school. I currently see all grades K-5 every other week, so creating and posting projects is a slow process. I will try to showcase what we are doing at least once this year per grade level. You can find past projects in the archives.

This year is my last. I am retiring June 1, 2015 after 34 years of teaching. I can honestly say I've enjoyed my career. I hope to stay in contact with children through my other love--Zumba®. I am teaching Zumba® Kids to afterschool care students, and I hope I can continue that as long as my old bones will let me! I also plan to spend time with my children and grandchildren.
